It seems that the last few years, some have posted their successes and failures for the year. Hopefully not too many failures. I'm getting mine together, everybody go for it! __________________ Laughter is sunshine. It chases winter from the human face. -Victor Hugo

My best successes were running a 43:39 10K at Purity last spring, a 6:19 mile and 12:37 3K on the track in June, and a 35:26 5 mile at the Boulevard Bolt on Thanksgiving. Fairly pedestrian times for some - but for a 53/54 yo with not a lot of natural talent, I felt pretty good about those 4 achievements.
Hope to best them all this coming year as a 54/55 year old. |

My best success was to completely abandon my watch and all other GPS devices and have even lost the white tan line on my wrist. Running natural with only your body giving you performance information and most especially problem information is the way to go. (OK this is a couple of generations back approach, but it produced more USA top runners than we do today in-spite of the huge increase in USA runners. Kenya runners don't train with our running technology, and mostly even don't use our running shoes or even any shoes. ) (And OK, I run with a cell phone on long runs to keep Running Widow in touch.) __________________ To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift |

| I started running again in 2011. Completed several half-marathons, each progressively faster with the last being 1:39 at the IRFTP Nashville Half-Marathon.
I "finished" the Country Music Marathon (full), but it was slow and I had to walk with ITB issues (severely undertrained).
I am looking forward to a faster 2012. |

1:23 Moonpie PR is all I have to show for this year. Running 1/2 the miles in previous years. Concentrating in speed & strength. Will continue this protocol into 2012. |

2011 was my first full year of running since I started. My best race time / finish wise was probably the Music City Half Marathon in 1:30:40. I also ran my first marathon (and beat my time goal by over 3 mins), which was an awesome experience. My training for the marathon was also a highlight of the year. I was able to train harder and at higher volume than I would have thought.
PRs: 5k 19:53 Bear Crawl 5k 10k 20:40 Donelson Hermitage 10k Half Marathon: 1:30:40 Music City Half Marathon Marathon: 3:26:43 Las Vegas Marathon
Goals for 2012: 1) Sub 6 min /mile pace 5k 2) Sub 40 min 10k 3) Sub 1:27:30 Half marathon 4) Run 2500 miles.

Of the seven yrs I have been running, 2011 was the best so far. Since April I completed two 50 milers, one 40 miler, four 50k's and two road marathons. Ran 8:33 at the White River 50 on July 30. Ran 4:17 at the Mt. Baker 50k on Oct 1 and a 2:55:52 at the tri-cities marathon on Oct 30. Through November and December I have lost a lot of fitness by taking a break from running. No injuries just needed a break. __________________ brandon sullivan |

I got a PR in a 14.5 mile run. It was my first trip to Tupelo.
I was happy to run the Mt. Mist again this year and did better than I thought I would. Not a PR, but only a couple minutes behind Naresh.
Did a couple of runs in Memphis this year as firsts. Gibson Guitar 5k and Elvis Presley 5k. I am feeling more like a real Tennessean now.
It was a year of the pulled calf muscle in the spring and then the other calf in the fall.
I am looking for a better year ahead.

I spent 2011 cherry picking and ended up winning 3 races and setting 2 state age records. 5k – 18:22 4m – 23:49 (Old 24:23) 10k – 38:05 10m – 1:05:03 (Old 1:05:34) 2012 – Break all the times above plus set new 50+ PRs in the full and half marathon. Plus convince Jacob to run a triple and draft him during his third race, then throw a wicked kick at him at the end for the win. (Note to self: learn how to kick, or trip someone without getting caught) |

34 years of running. Still struggled for most of the year with upper hamstring/attachment issues, but seem to be almost OK now.
Lost a lot of speed since 2009 (pre-injuries), but I'm still out there! |
